Located within the exclusive Sotogrande estate, the Almenara Golf Hotel & Spa is a luxury development set high on a hill-top overlooking the Mediterranean that opened for business in 1998. In addition to the unique design by Dave Thomas of the golf facility at Almenara, access to the neighboring courses at La Reserva, Sotogrande and Valderrama make this a true golfer’s paradise. La Reserva de Sotogrande, designed by Cabell Robinson, opened to wide acclaim in 2003 and is already considered one of the best layouts in Spain. Sotogrande Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, opened in 1964 and has hosted many European professional tournaments. Valderrama is ranked among the top 100 course in the world, top 10 in Europe and number one in Spain. In addition to hosting The Ryder Cup in 1997, Valderrama has hosted the season ending Volvo Masters Tournament for the last several years.

Located on the old Valderrama Homestead, this centre has two riding schools offering riding classes, guided horseback excursions and competitions. The centre also has a steeplechase course.

Racquet Centre

These excellent facilities are located alongside the El Cucurucho Beach Club. For tennis or paddleball lovers, this centre offers three tennis courts, four frontenis courts, eight paddleball courts and one glass-walled paddleball court. It is also possible to learn any one of these sports, with classes available all day from 9:00 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Polo

From Easter Season through the end of summer, polo is a spectator sport and the fields become a bastion of celebrity spotting. Great artists, European princes and other visitors frequent world-class Sotogrande polo fields like Río Sotogrande I and II, Puente del Hierro I and II, and Haciendas de San Enrique I and II, as well as three new fields recently opened on the banks of the Guadiaro River.

Water sports (Sotogrande Water Sports Marina)

Underwater fishing, tuna fishing, deep-sea sport fishing, private yacht rental, motorboat rental, jet ski rental, windsurfing (prohibited along the Sotogrande coast, but possible in a special zone in Tarifa), sailing, sailing and snorkelling lessons. Special mention is warranted of a new catamaran moored at the Sotogrande Marina. The large vessel can take up to 80 people on tours of the Bay of Algeciras and Gibraltar straights.

Beach Club

''El Cucurucho'' Beach club is open only to members and hotel guests, is located on the Mediterranean coast and features views of Gibraltar and the Sotogrande Water Sports Marina. "El Cucurucho" Beach Club is a special place where rest, sports and leisure are guaranteed for the entire family.

Hammocks and sunshades are available on the beach as well as alongside all four of our swimming pools. The restaurant and snack bar offer a place to gather and eat anything from a simple sandwich to a full buffet lunch.

The club’s facilities and summer activities make Cucurucho the centre of daytime life during the hottest months of the year. But it is also an ideal place for celebrations of all kinds throughout the year.
